Calcium contributes to the removal of oxygen and sulfides from the steel, while iron enhances the mechanical properties and toughness of the steel.

Alloy cored wire is a type of multi-alloy deoxidizer. It is made by mixing various alloy powders in proportion to create a mixture, which is then wrapped in cold-rolled steel strip and shaped using a wire pressing machine.
