The raw materials of ferro silicon are mainly coke, steel chips and quartz (or silica), which are made by smelting in electric furnaces. The silicon is reduced from the silica containing SIO2. Smelting ferro silicon mostly uses metallurgical coke as reducing agent, and steel scrap is the regulator of ferro silicon.
