Pure Calcium Cored Wire

DATE:2024-09-19

Pure calcium cored wire is a alloy cored wire consisting of a metal calcium core and cold-rolled steel strip as the outer sheath. In recent years, with the continuous improvement of steelmaking technology, pure calcium cored wire has been widely applied in the production processes of various steel grades, becoming an important raw material for steelmaking. Statistics indicate that the market share of pure calcium cored wire in North America is 70%, while the share in the European market has reached 40%. This product has numerous steel mill users, and many mills have achieved significant results after using pure calcium cored wire, effectively improving steel quality. Uses of Pure Calcium Cored Wire

  • Alleviating clogging at the outflow.
  • Preventing the inclusion of sulfides.
  • Improving various performance aspects of steel.
  • Quickly deoxidizing and desulfurizing liquid steel.

Usage Method of Pure Calcium Cored Wire

Pure calcium cored wire needs to be used with different wire feeding machines. It should be inserted into the liquid steel at a 45° angle, allowing it to dissolve at a predetermined depth and react chemically with the steel. It is crucial to operate at the calculated feeding speed, as an incorrect feeding rate can reduce the calcium absorption rate. After using pure calcium cored wire, samples should be taken immediately to observe impurities in the steel. Most impurities will convert to CaO-Al2O3-CaS, which are small and nearly spherical in shape.

Advantages of Pure Calcium Cored Wire

  • Simplifies the adjustment of the chemical composition of liquid steel.
  • Ensures that chemical reactions in the liquid steel are stable and uniform, enhancing safety.
  • The feeding method effectively prevents secondary oxidation of the liquid steel, allowing inclusions to float quickly to improve purity.
  • Avoids introducing gases into the liquid steel.
  • Has a wide range of applications.
  • Simple and quick to operate.
  • Convenient for storage.
